a week, including most holidays.
Days available for visitation may
vary depending on the current schedules.

Becoming a Love and Logic Parent
|
Love and Logic is a common sense approach to parenting that will
give parents practical ideas about setting limits and teaching
kids to make responsible choices. Parents will be given
ideas and techniques to raise children who are self-confident,
motivated and ready for the real world. Subjects addressed
include: choices, ownership of the problem, setting limits,
consequences, empathic responses and problem solving. |

Classes are held on Saturday mornings from
10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

| Parenting Skills for Teen Parents |
|
This program consists of twelve, 2 hour classes, all specially
tailored to the needs of young moms and dads to help them learn the
basic skills of nurturing parenting. |

Nurturing Fathers is a program for developing attitudes and skills for
male nurturance. Fathers will meet weekly for ten weeks.
Topics covered include: nurturing ourselves and our children; discipline
without violence; playing with children; teamwork with spouse/partner;
balancing work and fathering; communication and problem solving; and
dealing with feelings. |

Classes are Thursday evenings,
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

| Non-Violent Family Skills Program |
|
The
Nonviolent Family Skills Program teaches families about the impact of
violence on children and ways to parent and manage families without
violence. Participants will learn effective ways to support children’s
social, emotional and mental health needs while acquiring new skills to
manage their relationships free from violence. |
| Smart Steps for Stepfamilies |
|
Smart Steps for Stepfamilies is designed for remarried or partnering
couples with children. It focuses on building couple and family
strengths while addressing the unique needs and issues that face couples
in blended families. Subjects addressed include: realistic
expectations, stages of stepfamily development, legal issues, defining
roles and rules, stepparent-stepchild relationships, communication with
your child’s other parent, and building respectful and caring
relationships. |

Skills Program for Families in Substance
Abuse Treatment and Recovery |
|
The
central goal of this program is to nurture parents, thus enhancing their
ability to nurture their children. Parents will develop
self-awareness. They will explore their childhood experiences,
their fears and their strengths. They will learn about the effects
of substance abuse on themselves and their families and explore their
process of development as adults in recovery. |
